Wisdom Teeth Removal in Fort Mcmurray

Wisdom teeth start to develop as early as 14 years of age. They are the very last teeth in the mouth and do not have a specific function. There usually isn’t room in the mouth for these teeth and they generally become painful and need to be removed. Wisdom teeth can cause prolonged pain, swelling and infection or even damage to the next existing tooth. If the gum around the wisdom tooth is swollen, the jaw may become stiff and sore.

Are there alternatives for having your wisdom teeth extracted?

Having wisdom teeth removed is often the only way to permanently relieve painful symptoms. Although antibiotics can provide temporary relief, the symptoms can unfortunately return in the future.

Wisdom Teeth Removal

Many patients have their wisdom teeth removed under local anesthesia or “freezing”. Local anaesthesia allows the clients to be awake during the extraction, but the areas surrounding the third molar are completely numb. In addition to the local anaesthesia, sedation medication can be given to help alleviate stress and provide relaxation during the procedure.
